Parisian style front garden
This sizeable Didsbury front garden was rarely used due to being completely open to the street. The extremely sociable owners were looking for a design to create a welcoming, wow-factor for visitors but that also provided privacy from passers-by.
The design solution is centred around a sunken water feature with surrounding lawns divided by stone paths. Half-moon beds capitalise on available light levels and are encircled by stone paths providing a journey round the garden to multiple seating areas. Shady planting beds complete the outside of the circle around the edges of the property.
A simple French style two-seater bench provides a space for reflection and watching the world go by; while a raised dais with Parisian bistro table and chairs provides a private, sunny spot for breakfast.
Privacy has been provided by creating a dramatic entrance archway surrounded by trellis that also provides lots of space for climbing plants such as clematis and roses.
